Top Choice

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 25, 2026

This policy describes what information Top Choice collects, why, where it is stored, and the choices you have. It reflects how the app is actually built — every category below maps to a real part of the service, not boilerplate.

1. Who we are

Top Choice is operated by Beijing Yuanzhijing Technology Co., Ltd. ("we", "us"). Contact: support@top-choice.app.

2. What we collect

2.1 Information you give us

CategoryDetailsNotes
Account information Email address, or your Apple ID credential when you use Sign in with Apple; password (if you set one) Passwords are stored only in hashed form; we cannot recover them in plain text. Sign in with Apple may share a private relay email — that is your choice, and it works fully with Top Choice.
Profile information Display name Optional. Everything works without it.
Your questions The full text of the question you ask, and the casting result (hexagram, changing lines, texts) This is the core input of the service. It is uploaded to our servers only when you are signed in (so your records sync across devices). In guest mode it never leaves your device.
AI readings The interpretation text generated by the AI for your question Stored with your account when signed in, so you can revisit past readings.

2.2 Information generated as you use the app

CategoryDetailsNotes
Credits and ledger Credit balance and every credit change (grants, spending, refunds) Needed for billing, quotas, and fraud prevention.
Usage counters Free readings used today, reward counters Quota control and anti-abuse.
Purchase records Apple transaction identifiers for in-app purchases (order ID, product, date) We never see your card number or Apple ID password — payment is handled entirely by Apple. We keep transaction records as accounting documentation as required by law.

2.3 Anonymous usage statistics

When you cast a reading, we additionally store a separate statistical record that contains no account identity, used to improve the product. It contains: the first 300 characters of the question, the hexagram name, a topic category assigned by the AI (e.g. relationships, career), the platform you used (iOS / web), and a coarse region (country level) resolved from the request IP. The IP address itself is discarded immediately after resolution and is never stored.

This record cannot be linked back to you: it contains no account ID, email, or any identifier. It is readable only by administrators (enforced at the database level).

2.4 What we do not collect

3. Where your data lives

4. Who we share data with

We share only what is strictly necessary with the following processors:

ProviderPurposeWhat is sent
Supabase (backend hosting) Database, authentication, storage Account information, questions, readings, credits ledger
DeepSeek (AI model provider, located in China) Generating the AI reading Your question text and the hexagram result only — never your account ID, email, or any device identifier
Apple (App Store / StoreKit) Processing in-app purchases Payment is processed by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy; we receive only transaction confirmations

About the AI provider. Your question text is sent to DeepSeek's API to generate your reading. We send the question and the casting result without any account identity. Because DeepSeek is located in China, this constitutes an international transfer of that text; it happens only when you explicitly request an AI reading. If you prefer, you can use the app without AI readings — the classic texts remain fully available offline in the app.

5. Your rights

Everyone

If you are in the EEA / UK (GDPR)

If you are in California (CCPA/CPRA)

6. International transfers

Your data is stored in the United States (Supabase/AWS) and question text is processed by DeepSeek in China (§4). Where required by law, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as contractual clauses with our processors. By using the service you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in these locations.

7. Children

Top Choice is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. In regions where a higher age applies (e.g. 16 in parts of the EEA), use by minors requires a parent or guardian's consent.

8. Security

9. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes — especially to what we collect, where it goes, or who receives it — we will give prominent notice in the app before the change takes effect. The current version is always at top-choice.app/privacy.
